  • A few possibilities:

    1. Leaders getting worried and see calling off protests as the only way to get out of the spotlight.
    2. Opposition pushing into leadership roles so they can introduce fragmentation like this.
    3. Leaders are accepting push back from the cities. The whole idea behind a protest is to exercise our first amendment right. If a city is saying no, the response needs to be strong. Lets be peaceful, not pushovers.
    4. Leaders actually think that we will be able to avoid martial law by not protesting on the 19th, which would be incredibly short-sighted. If an event doesn’t happen from one of our protests, something can be manufactured. Obeying in advance is not a winning strategy.

    Not trying to downplay the tremendous work done so far, but the video saying “don’t show up to the protest on the 19th” because of planning issues is tough to buy. It feels like it is coming from an unauthentic source, and without knowing who is backing it - it just adds confusion.

    We are going to see a lot more of this I feel, so I hope the national leaders can make the messaging clear across all channels.
